I engage in empirically driven philosophical research, focusing on the epistemic dynamics and implications of digital information spaces and technologies. My primary interest resides in questions around trust, and how misplaced trust in particular leaves us epistemically worse off - both qua individual cognizers, and as members of larger, online communities. I’m also fascinated by philosophical issues in biology; specifically, the biological foundations of cognition and cooperation. These interests converge on a novel but pervasive problem: How is it that animals like us use and navigate informational tools and environments that differ so radically from those that underpin our evolutionary past?
